Triple Shot

03-APRIL-2008

TRIPLE SHOT

Out the door
   in 2
Traffic
   moving
Line
   short
Order
   fast
Change back
   extra
Selfish driver
   hogs throughway
Nice driver
   moves him
Parking found
   brake set
Napkins
   bib-tucked
Order
   right
Food
   hot
Radio
   on

The Doors
   "Light My Fire"
Volume
   much louder
Eyes
   closed
Foot
   tapping
Thoughts
   transported
Reflections of
   summer
Steed
   napping
Talk
   easy
Meadow
   green
Sun
  warm
Hands
   touching
Embraces
   Passionate
Sweat
   sweet
Bodies
   rhythmic
Breeze
   blowing
Tall grasses
   swaying
The memory
   barely faded
The feeling
   deeply missed

Music
   suspended
Eyes
   open
DJ
   talks
KOZZ tunes
   105 minutes
Thursday's
   "triple shot"
"LA Woman"
   agreeable
Mojo
   workin'
The past
   seductive
Mood
   extended
"Break on Through"
   already there
Music
   ends
Sentiment
   lingers

One other person
   knows this truth.
One other person
   journeys here.
One other person
   completes this.

Eyes
   open
Reality
   checked
Bright sun glaring
   on bare trees
   and dead weeds
Standing among
   the decorative rock
   that borders this
   fast food entrance
Brings me back
    to lunch hour

Four decades
   and counting

It's not over.

I just read some of your entries - man- it's been awhile but everytime I read your stuff it makes me laugh or smile or imagine exactly what you are describing in my mind. You're a great writer and I enjoy every minute of it. Keep up the dialoge - you could put it into a book someday. Love it.

      Thanks for your comment, Jeannette.

There are few things a would-be writer likes better than flattery and encouragement.  Ah, but if only all my readers were as enthusiastic and appreciative as you.

Please, come back often and feel free to leave more comments.  And, by the way, don't feel like you always have to leave "nice" comments -- feel free to tell me what you don't like, too.  I'm sure that I won't be able to please all my readers all the time.  And I don't claim to be the best speller at the keyboard.  I also have a tendency to make up punctuation and sentence structure as I go along.  Like most Chefs, I consider it "adding a little unique flavor."
